June 17, 2018

Thank you children and parents for a wonderful school year! I will treasure my special "class tree" for years to come. My gifts and your kind words mean so much to me and I can't thank you all enough for your generosity!

Be on the look out for an email that contains a math packet for summer work. The packet is to be turned in to your second grade teachers on the first week of school.

For my kiddos: Get on First in Math throughout the summer! I hope it still allows you to login throughout the summer? Not 100% sure about that but there is always addition and subtraction flash cards! Some fun math websites are: Funbrain, coolmath4kids.com, khanacademy.org, and brain pop.

Read and write as much as you can over the summer months! Have kids discuss and write about the setting, characters, problem in the story , what happens in the beginning, middle, and end , reaction to the story, etc. Stretch their minds to write more, especially about their summer adventures!

Exams this week! Refer to exam schedule! Please make sure kids have sharpened pencils and erasers!

Religion study sheet -  Focus on items with the asterisks and they will be fine!

Thursday at 2:00 is our ice cream party with our buddies!

Friday June 8th at 10:00 in our classroom is our Author's Tea!

Week of June 11th are half days! No school for kids on June 14th!

June 15th last day of school, Mass at 9:00, dismissal at 10:30

We will also review in class but studying is still necessary! I want them to finish strong!!

Spirit Day Friday ! Kids will either wear yellow gym shirts for the gold team or blue ribbon shirt if they are on the maroon team. Gold team -  James, Kaley, Katie, Natalie, Aidan, Blaise, Ainsley, Savannah, Ryan.  Maroon Team-  Crae, Jax, Andrew, Cole, Lily, Brooke, Ben, Amy, Riley.  Half Day Friday !

I'm going to send home the study guide for the Religion Final on Friday!!!!! If you focus on the items that are underlined and starred, you should be fine!!!! ELA skills will be reviewed in class, kids should review chapter reviews from their old math books! We will also review in class! We are winding down but I want the kids to finish strong as they prepare for their finals!!!

Week of May 7th-May 10th

Animal Projects due Monday! We will presenting throughout this week and next week!

Correction on the birthday celebration letter that came home!! All July and August birthdays are being celebrated in May on their birthdate. Lily is June 20th, her bday will be celebrated May 21st. If you missed your child's blessing because of my error,  contact me and we will get them blessed again. If your bday falls on a Saturday, we will do it on Friday. If your bday falls on a Sunday, we will do it on Monday! Your child's name is on the Peek at the Week too in Sister's newsletter!

Author's Tea is Friday June 8th at 10:00 am. Letter is in their blue folders!

Thursday 9:00 Mass for Ascension Thursday. I will be out of school on Thursday so if there are any transportation changes, please call the office.

Zoo field trip Monday May 14th! Wear gym uniforms, put on sunscreen before you come to school, and bring a brown bag lunch in a zip lock bag!!!! Bags sweat and break if not in a plastic bag!

Monday the 30th is our Author assembly. Remember to bring in money if you wanted to order the book autographed by the author. The book is Pop's Cookie Duster. No obligation to buy!!!!
Children can also wear blue ribbon or blue shirt today with their uniform in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Week.

Please make sure your child is prepared for school each day by bringing in the necessary books and supplies to and from school! Many of the children are sharing their own supplies with others because many don't have what they need. I have a huge supply of pencils but some need glue sticks  and crayons. Also, if they don't bring their math book back to school , they can't do the class work. Thank you for your help!
